I got myself too far in the "friend zone" How do I date her?

I've liked a girl for about a year now. Were casual friends and we text a lot. I don't think she has any deeper feeling for me because I don't get any signs past what a normal friend would do. I'm not sure if I've given her any real impression that I like her but my friend says I tend to make corny flirts to her. I could ask her out but I'm worried I could make things awkward. What do I do to get her to like me more intimate?
