Can a pair of yellow lab cichlids live in a community tank?

I have kept many kinds of fish over the years but never cichlids. I know a lot about them and I know yellow labs are more peaceful than many other african cichlids. I have also seen videos of them coexisting with loaches and tetras and various semi-agressive fish. Also if there is a pair, wouldn't they be caught up with themselves they would not bother other fish. I have also looked at them in pet stores and put my finger to the aquarium and majority just stay where they were to begin with, there are many hiding places in my aquarium, would this work.
